Make sure to stay safe, wear 250 sq. inches of blaze orange minimum hat and vest, prefer blaze orange all over. If you hunt out of a tree stand be safe and wear fall protection, every year people fall out of there tree sand and get KILLED of SERIOUSLY INJURED, it has already happened in bow season this year. Have a successful year hunting deer and if you have a youth son or daughter introduce them to the great sport of hunting.

It won’t be long till the ground hogs will be out to hunt. This makes good target practice with a rifle with a long range scope, like a 4x12x 50 or larger power scope. A 222, 243, 22-250, or even a 270win. with a 110 gr. v-max from Hornady will make a perfect rifle to shoot short or long range. I have used my 270 win. with 110 gr. v-max and killed ground hog to 300 yd. . It is good practice till deer season, when the big buck shows up in deer season, keeps a person in practice. If you live out west where the prairie dogs are, this also makes good target practice. Most farmers will let you hunt for ground hogs because of the destruction they cause, the crops they eat & the holes they make. While driving a tractor in a field and there is a hole from a ground hog and the farmer can’t see it and drives in it, this can cause serious damage to farm tractor or equipment or worse personal injury. With a range finder a person can range how far the ground hog is and hold the cross hairs accordingly for a perfect shot. Have a great day hunting.
With a game camera hidden from view in a tree or some hidden spot not easily accessible, positioned to take pictures of what you want to protect. Game cameras operate by motion, there game cameras that take daytime and night time pictures [infrared night pictures], some are able to take video. With pictures from these game cameras it will help the police to identify the person or persons doing the crime.

Turkey can be hunted both fall and spring, check with the game commission for the rules and regulations in the state you wants to hunt. There are 4 types of turkey in the United States, the Osceola, Gould’s, Merriam’s, Easterns. There is the hen [female], gobbler [male], and Jake [immature gobbler] all 3 can be hunted depending on the state you hunt and the season spring or fall. By early 1900s, most of the wild turkey were wiped out in North America, at the Great Depression there was less than 30,000 turkey in the United States. Now through game laws and conservation groups there are more than 7 million turkey. Turkey feed on acorns, waste grain, insects and grasses and are not likely to deplete a small area with a large flock of turkey. Depending on the state turkey can be hunted with shotgun the most popular, rifle with scope and crossbow or bow. While hunting turkey there are different type of calls, the mouth call, box call, slate call, ceramic or glass call. To learn the different calls a turkey make check out the National Wild Turkey Federation and listen to the different calls.
